Getting real with myself
Dec. 31st, 2018 06:45 pmI've been pretty much stuck in the last few years. I got fired from a job and I failed a state exam to become a tax preparer and those two things pretty much took the wind out of my sails. I'm not much for resolutions but I think I have something to gain by posting more and noting things in my life that inspire me as well as intimidate me.
I really don't want another year to pass that just blurs in with the last year where I never feel like I've done anything, learned anything or grown as a person.
For instance, I think I want to take up sewing. It started with me wanting a cheap way to repair Scott's worn out jeans. I thought I'd be able to buy a machine for beginners and just start sewing. It's more complicated than that. After quite a few extremely frustrating days I accomplished my mending projects. There was one woman from Australia who had some great You Tube videos that got me through it. After watching her I thought I might try to learn how to sew for more than mending. She has an online class that was free so I started it today. Answered a lot of questions. So, I'll finish her crash course and see where that leaves me.
Finally, I made a Guinness Beef Stew for dinner. Going to serve it nestled in a ring of mashed potatoes. Good New Years dinner. It's been cold.
